From New York Times bestselling author K. Bromberg comes a new, sexy standalone about taking chances and finding love when it’s least expected. Or wanted.

This whole contest was supposed to be easy. I know, I know. Famous last words.

It’s a long story, but I messed up at work. Big time. To earn back the trust of my boss, I promised to save one of our magazines. Yep. That Hot Dad contest you’ve seen advertised all over the place was my idea. And if I’m successful, if I’m able to increase our online readership, then I get a shot at my dream job.

But the one thing I never expected to happen, happened: Contestant number ten, Grayson Malone. Hello, Mr. Difficult. And did I mention sexy as hell?

Unfortunately he knows me. The old me, anyway. And while we might be older now, I remind him of before. Of the woman who broke his heart, who hardened him, and who left him alone to raise the cutest little boy I’ve ever seen.

But I don’t want a relationship. And I definitely don’t fall for single dads with baggage. Even ones with chiseled abs and killer smiles.

But he got to me. They got to me. Him and his son and their messy, crazy life. But I got to him too. I see the stolen glances. I feel the walls he built start to crumble. I recognize that there’s an unexpected beauty to the chaos in his life.

And now that the contest is about to end, we’re left to decide whether the last six months were just fun or if what we have is worth risking it all?

✯✯✯✯✯

“It’s always the quiet ones you have to worry about.”

Worth The Risk is a breathtaking story of one man’s journey into single fatherhood. It’s a story about letting go of the past and learning to trust again. This novel is by far one of my favorite novels to release this year. It has everything from endless passion to utter heartbreak, and let’s not forget a hero that will have even the non believers believing in happily ever after.

Grayson Malone is a single father to an adorable eight year old boy (Luke) and he’s a rescue pilot who’s on probation for the time being. So to say the man is ‘grounded’ would be an understatement. To spicing things up Gray’s brothers decide to enter him in the hottest dad contest that Modern Family magazine is hosting, without Grayson’s knowledge..of course.

Sidney Thorton is your typical silver spoon type girl. She grew up entitled and wanting nor needing for anything. Basically this woman has had everything in her life handed to her. But that’s all about to change after she flakes on a huge meeting. Her father’s decided to cut the strings and force her to work for what she wants. That’s how she’s ended back in her hometown Sunnyville putting on a contest for a family/parenting magazine.

Grayson is a complex character. This man has been through the emotional wringer, that’s why it’s so hard for him to see through an exterior and not judge a book by its cover. He’s decided to not get emotionally invested in a woman in fear of sending the wrong message to his son. This man, he literally gets the father of the year award for how caring and nurturing he is towards Luke. My heart literally stuttered during the Grayson and Luke moments. But hang on because these two aren’t all about cookie cutter moments. There’s also some valuable life lessons that we witness Grayson teaching Luke throughout this book. That right there makes a true father. Memories fade but its the lessons learned that lead you down the right path in life. My heart broke for this kid and for his dad. All Luke wants is the nurturing that only a mother can give. IS THAT TO MUCH TO ASK!

I loved watching Sydney change from the self entitled woman she was to the selfless woman she became. It was eye-opening to see that all it takes is one person…maybe two…to make a person see there is more to life than career, money, and social status.

Being completely honest….again….throughout Worth The Risk, I viewed Sydney’s father as the enemy. I thought he was the typical rich daddy warbucks who wanted everything his way or no way at all. But that wasn’t the case at all, that was my greedy perception on him as a man, not him as a father. If I would have looked between the lines, I would have seen that this man was trying to do right by his daughter. He was trying to teach her that not everything can be handed to her and somethings in life have to be fought for. That right there was the biggest lesson learned of all throughout this novel. Sydney learned quickly that she was going to have to fight for what she wanted…promotion be damned…this woman was fighting for that man and his little boy.

Now lets talk about Luke. Honestly, this kid stole a big chunk of my heart. I just wanted to wrap him up in a hug and tell him everything was going to be okay and that every romance novel ends in a happily ever after. Luke brought a sense of fragility to Worth The Risk. I knew at any moment this kid was going to break, and in the end I would break with him. That is how greatly I was invested in this novel.

When you feel the emotions that the characters are feeling, you know you have a great novel sitting in front of you and that’s what put Worth The Risk by K. Bromberg on my Top Reads of 2018 list.

If you’re looking for the hero who trumps all heroes, read this book. If your looking for a single father romance that has the ability to heat your kindle and warm your heart, read this book. If your looking for those special laugh out loud moments, read this book. If your looking for a book that will not only entertain you but will also make you wish like hell fictional characters existed in real life, Read. This. Book.
