Blurb:

A war within yourself is the hardest to conquer.
They are better off without you. You aren’t worthy. Leave.

My thoughts are on a dangerous loop.
It’s my entire life.
The MC needs me to be a man I can never be. I weaken them.
I listen to my thoughts and leave everything I know and love behind.
Vanishing in the middle of the night, I find myself a lone rider in New Jersey.
Only to step in a Ruthless Kings territory, and they are far from what a King should be.
Women are being threatened, sold and abused by their hands.
Saving them is a priority.
Falling in love with one of them is not.
Scarlett ends up being a savior to my soul.
I’m worthless. She’ll see in time.
The fight for survival just got a lot harder.

Within myself, with these bikers, with life.
My mind is my own worst enemy.

My Review

Boomer is the second book in the Ruthless Kings MC Series by K.L. Savage. It is said you can read Boomer and Scarlett’s story as a standalone, but I feel you’d get more of an understanding for Boomer if you read Reaper’s Rise and Reaper first. Please be warned, this book does come along with a few triggers. The main plot point has to do with a MC taking down a human trafficking ring.

Boomer was raised from the ground up in the club. First by his father, and then by his father’s best friend, he was taught the ins and outs of club life. Basically, once you’re in there is no getting out. Reaper did all he could to protect and shield his best friend’s son from all dangers that lurk around the corners. But some things are inevitable… Such as life and love.

When Reaper proclaims his love for Sarah, the sister Boomer never knew existed, Boomer takes it upon himself to step away from the situation…. And believe me when I say, I didn’t blame him for wanting to step away from the club and take a little breather. What Boomer doesn’t yet realize, he’s about to step out of a bad situation just to land himself in an even worse situation. A situation that leads him to the woman he undoubtedly was put on this earth just for him.

Scarlett had her life strategically mapped out. College, career, and the white picket fence. But when she finds herself being abducted and placed in the human trafficking ring, she comes to the realization, her perfectly mapped out life will never be the same. Her only means of survival is finding a way to get away from the rancid bikers. When an unknown face sweeps in and saves the girls, Scarlett is knocked off her feet. Being with Boomer feels right, and she’ll do everything in her power to get what she wants. Even if it means going toe to toe with his demons. She’ll raise hell fire to see this thing with Boomer through, until the very end.

My Thoughts:

Let’s be honest for a moment, I wasn’t expecting to love Boomer’s story and the fact that I did came as a huge surprise! You see, I loved Reaper and Sarah’s story. I loved it so much that I assumed he would be my favorite throughout this whole damn series. But Boomer came in and stole a piece of my heart. There is no doubt about it, this man has a darkness living in his head and claiming his soul. So this is where I tell you, If you aren’t a fan of dark and gritty tales, this MC romance most likely isn’t the one for you. I, on the other hand, couldn’t get enough!!!

Reading through the series, I knew something was off with Boomer. I knew he had his triggers and he had his little issues, like wanting to blow everything up. But holy crow’s feet… I didn’t expect him to be this maniacal…. I LOVED IT!! As for Scarlett, I thought she was the perfect antidote for Boomer’s crazy. I loved the fact that she was his calm, but she was also his equal. She had a bit of darkness she kept hidden beneath the surface. I loved the fact that these two characters were complete opposites, but in an odd sense they were the same too.

Let’s not forget about the fire and passion. K.L. Savage definitely knows their way around writing off the walls’ sexy time scenes. The chemistry between these two is pure FIRE! And this is the reason I keep coming back for more. I love the raw passion and the danger!

Now onto why I gave Boomer a four star rating. I felt the novel was rushed at times. There were a few moments I craved a slowdown. As always, I’ll chalk that up to a spoiled reader preference.

Overall, I think it’s safe to say Boomer was a great read… IF you like dark romance, don’t mind a bit of violence, and are a fan of the gritty MC Romance trope. If you love your romances on the sweeter side of the spectrum and less erotic, this is probably not the book or series for you. I, however, couldn’t get enough!!!! I can’t wait to continue on with this series, I have my eye on a few characters and I’m DYING to get their stories!!
