Blurb:

Everly never expected to move back in with her parents, and she definitely didn’t expect to do so as a single mother. But with the father of her son suddenly out of the picture, she’s had to make some adjustments to her plans.

Now Everly has one priority: to make a life for herself and her boy. And Blake, her sometimes infuriating but admittedly handsome employer at Live Life Adventures, doesn’t factor into her future as anything more than her boss.

But it seems the guy who’s about as friendly as a grizzly bear has a soft spot for her and her son…and the more time she spends with him, the more difficult it is to remember why giving in to the chemistry between them is a bad idea.

Now, with their future on the line, they’ll have to decide if love is a risk worth taking.

Risky is the second book in Aurora Rose Reynolds’ Adventures In Love series. Risky can be read as a standalone given the love aspect revolves around a new couple, but I highly suggest you read this series in order. I feel you’ll be able to  appreciate the bond between Blake, Evely, and baby Sampson even more if you first read Rushed. But the choice is up to you.

Before I start this portion of my review, I want to state that I did insert a tiny spoiler in the section below. I know in today’s world cancer seems to be everywhere and is often emotinally triggering to readers. I try to do my best to warn fellow readers of emotionally triggering content. So I apologize if you are a little bit spoiled from here on out. My job as a reviewer is to protect reader’s hearts and their mental well being.

Everly thought she had her life planned out. She had the man of her dreams and she had a relationship she thought could defy even the toughest of times. Until the moment she found out she was pregnant and baby Sampson entered the picture. She soon realized the man of her dreams was in fact a slimy toad who didn’t have any intention of being a father. So Everly finds herself moving back home with a baby in tow and a new job in place.

Blake has the weight of the world on his shoulders. Not only does he have a business to look after, but he also holding onto a secret that will affect the emotional state of his mother and sister. How do you tell your family the one person they  depend on has cancer and it’s not treatable? Even if he could tell them, he has promised to keep his dad’s cancer a secret. So to say he has the weight of the world on his shoulders is an understatement. The only person he’s able to confide in is the new single mother Live Life Adventures just hired.

My Thoughts:

WOW! I wasn’t aware that anyone’s story could top Tanner and Cybil’s story, but clearly, I was wrong on so many counts! Aurora Rose Reynolds stole my heart with Blake, Everly, and baby Sampson’s story! I’m still sitting here with a huge grin on my face and a heart full of happiness.

Let’s start with Blake. I loved the fact that he was the grumpy personality to Everly’s sunshine personality. This is a man who was currently going through the motions of life with the weight of the world on his shoulder. The motions of work, family time, and sleep was on an endless loop. Until Everly and baby Sampson came into the picture. I honestly think the moments between Blake and Sampson were my absolute favorite. This man was made to be a father and from the moment Blake set eyes on Sam the fatherly vibes set in. Gah! There’s nothing sexier than a man who chooses to step into the father role from the start, no questions asked.

Then we have Everly. This woman gets the mother of the year award in the romance world! I loved the fact that she was a mother first, her son was her main priority. The way she cared for and doted on Sampson brought tears to my eyes. She was not only caring and nurturing, but she was also fiercely protective and independent when it came to raising her son. I loved every facet of her character. I don’t think any heroine to come in this series will top my love for Everly’s character.

Now let’s talk about  the instant ‘Boom-worthy’ chemistry between Everly and Blake. I loved the slow approach with these two, especially given the fact that there is a baby boy’s heart on the line. I loved the fact that they took their relationship slow to the point where it all just came natural. Their friendship merged into a relationship to the point where I knew it was coming but it all felt completely natural like a real life relationship. I guess what I’m saying is I loved the slow relationship build-up.

I can’t even begin to tell you how much I not only loved, but also appreciated Everly and Blake’s story. Aurora Rose Reynolds brought the slowburn BOOM and brought it hard. I was a fan from start to finish. So we have another five star read within the Adventures In Love series! As of right now, I’m not sure how ARR is going to top the first two books in the series. All I know is I have a feeling Maverick’s story is going to be pure fire!! I can’t wait to see what she has in store for this man and his happily ever after. He was acting too strange around the ending of Risky for there not to be an epic happily ever after!! EEEK! The more I imagine his story, the more I want Reckless! Is it August yet!?
