Synopsis:
Two pink lines won’t change the bad blood between us.
I haven’t always hated my brother’s best friend, but Michael Oliver gets under my skin and brings out the worst in me. He knows how to push my buttons, and I relish pushing all of his. He betrayed my trust years ago, and I’ve made it my mission in life to aggravate him until he admits he was wrong.
When his sister’s wedding brings us together, Michael suggests a truce for one night. If only he weren’t so handsome and smart, maybe I could resist the allure, but I’ve always been a little impulsive, and this man is my ultimate temptation. After years of pent-up frustration and unrequited love, I finally let down my guard, and that’s all it takes for us to combust.
But like all bad decisions, the morning after brings a reckoning, and I leave his hotel room swearing to never waste another moment of my time pining after him. Who needs that grumpy jerk warming her bed? Not me.
I don’t let myself think about that steamy one-night stand, or how it pained me to hear about his football injury, or how much I know he wants to get drafted so he can help his family. Because I’m cutting Michael out of my life for good.
Only the two little pink lines mean I can’t forget him. Even if I desperately want to.
The Baby Blitz is the third standalone novel in Lex Martin’s Varsity Dads Series. If you love accidental pregnancy/surprise baby romances, like I do, with sexy enemies-to-lovers vibes and an older brother’s best friend twist this is definitely the one for you!
Michael “Olly” Oliver has the weight of the world on his shoulders and it’s all riding on whether or not his football injury is going to pull him out of the game for good. His sister’s wedding is just the thing he needs to keep his mind occupied. But when he see’s his best friend’s little sister, Magnolia, he can’t help but feel the same spark he thought he pushed deep down. He made a vow, years ago, to his best friend that he would never go near Magnolia. A vow he intends on keeping… it shouldn’t be hard to keep, after all, Maggie has a deep seated hatred for him!
My Thoughts:
Lex Martin managed to take three of my favorite tropes (Enemies to Lovers, Accidental Pregnancy, and older brother’s best friend) and mix them all up into one spectacular novel!! I couldn’t, for the life of me, put this book down! It was an endless array of, just one more chapter, promises and I felt no guilt each and every time I broke one! I’m blown away!
I have so much love for Olly and Maggie. I felt a strong deep seated connection between these two from start to finish. It has to be said, I’m fairly new to Lex Martin, but one thing I discovered within her novels, she doesn’t skimp when it comes to the chemistry and connection between her love interests! Maggie and Olly’s story had so much substance and dimension to it. I won’t be forgetting about these two anytime soon!
Let’s start with Olly! I loved the fact that Olly is a family oriented kind of man. He watched his parents and his grandfather put everything they had into Olly’s dream and in return, Olly is trying like hell to make it into the NFL so his parents and grandpa will be set for the rest of their lives. His dream is to give back to the three people who gave him everything. What he never imagined was a college injury right before the draft. What he never imagined was having to be enrolled in college for a fifth year in order to play and prove to everyone this injury won’t take his dreams of supporting his family away. And what he never imagined was something way bigger than football was in his very near future. I loved the fact that Olly was a man with integrity and a dream. I found so much admiration with Olly’s character.
Now onto Magnolia, I loved the fact that Magnolia was a free spirit. But with the responsibility of taking care of her mother and sister, she found her life to be a little more vacant and repetitive than what she had dreamed and envisioned for herself. Her dreams are to fix up the home that was in her family for years. Having just bought a house, I know the struggles of googling and watching YouTube videos on how to fix, clean, and remodel a home. So I felt Maggie’s pain through all those moments. But at the end of the day, I admired her for standing on her own two feet and having this strong independence through it all. She’s definitely a character that can be looked up to.
Now onto the pregnancy! I have to say, this was my absolute favorite part of Olly and Maggie’s story! I loved the fact that on the night they called a truce, they also happened to conceive two little miracles. OOOPS! That’ll definitely keep a truce in line for the rest of their lives. No ifs, ands, or buts about it!! I’m not going to dive in too deep with this portion of my review due to spoilers. Let’s just say, Lex Martin sent my heart on an emotional journey! There were moments where I damn near felt my heart stutter. This reader was definitely sitting on the edge of her seat fighting through all the emotions. But in the end, Olly and Maggie made it through. And that is where I’ll end my review.
Overall, I definitely need to read more from Lex Martin in the very near future. My heart loved Olly and Maggie’s journey from start to finish. I loved everything from the banter to the swoon. This is a couple I won’t be forgetting anytime soon!

Peace Love and Happy Reading,
Great review! I think you’re going to love whatever you read from her next. I was hooked from Dear Clementine. I read everything else in a binge after and now I’m stuck waiting for her new releases. I loved this book, too. She did a great job mixing everything in.
