Synopsis:

When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she doesn’t think it’s love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.

Never ask about the past.
Don’t expect a future.

They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.

Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly.

It has taken me a long time to gather the courage to read Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover. I have to admit, I’m a bit embarrassed for all the years this book has sat on my kindle, and all the months this book has sat on my bookshelf unread.

I was promised angst.
I was promised tears.
I was promised complete and utter heartbreak!

And Colleen Hoover delivered everything that bloggers and readers around the world promised in their reviews and thoughts!

It’s been a long time since I last felt as if a knife was tearing through my heart and breaking me from the inside out. It’s been a long damn time since I last cried while reading. Tate and Miles’ story not only broke my heart and emotionally stunted me, but their story also healed my broken heart. I’m in awe of the emotionally charged power behind this romance novel.

I’m not going to dive too deep into what Miles and Tate’s story is about, trust me when I say, this novel is best read going in unknowing! What I will say is, be prepared to cry rivers of tears! Be prepared to have your heart smashed to smithereens. Be prepared to feel all the feels at the most random of times. I wasn’t expecting all that came from this older brother’s best friend romance!!

Let’s get to these characters, shall we!

Miles is a tortured hero with a tragic past. A past that will have you literally falling to your knees when you uncover all he went through six years ago. They say the past can have a way of changing you into a different person. Six years ago, a tragedy had Miles’ changing his mindset and his outlook on life. Now, he lives his life in the sky, focused on being the best Pilot he can possibly be. My heart literally tore to shreds for this man, but I have to say, I loved getting his point of view and experiencing his epic highs and lows all the same. These moments made this reader’s heart weep that much more. I felt a strange connection to Miles’ character. While reading through his story I craved Miles’ happily ever after!

And then we have Tate. Tate is the younger sister of Miles’ Best Friend/Next Door Neighbor. Tate lives her life reaching for the stars and challenging herself to achieve all of her dreams. The dream of getting her masters in nursing comes with sacrifice, hard work, and complete dedication towards her career choice. That leaves no time for dating. But when she sets her eyes on Miles’ she knows she’s in for a world of heartbreak. For this man, is as closed off as they come. I loved Tate’s stubborn pride! I loved the fact that she was the exact woman to break down the impenetrable wall Miles had placed around his heart and his memories. This woman literally charged forward, because in her heart of hearts, she knew her heart belonged to him. And that is when my heart started to break for her. Watching a character fall head over heels for someone who doesn’t have the ability, mentally and emotionally, to fall in love was what had my heart breaking the most.

I’m not lying when I say I cried so many tears! This book will definitely go down as being one of my favorite Colleen Hoover reads! I don’t think my heart can come back from this one. I was warned there would be tears, but honestly, I didn’t take that warning quite as seriously as I should have. And that is why I gave Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover a full five star rating!! This novel was beautiful and tragic all in it’s own way! So be prepared if  you decide to read this one for the first time. There will be anger. There will be tears. There will be fire. And there will be joy. My heart loved this story. I hope your heart loves it just the same.
