From USA Bestselling Author M. Robinson comes a contemporary romance duet filled with all the feels of an epic love story.

What do you do when you meet your soul mate at seven-years-old?

You give…

You live…

And you love…

Together.

Forever.

To have and to hold.

Until you hear the words, “I just don’t love you anymore.”

Putting an end to me.

To you.

To us.

“You’re cute! I like you. Now scoot over for me.”
I did, only because I liked the way she made me feel, and I didn’t want her to leave me alone again. She sat right beside me as close as she could, leaving no room in between us.
“I’m Bailey Button, by the way.”
Her soft skin brushed against my arm, causing new bubbles in my stomach.
What was that?
“I hate my name. It’s so stupid. It sounds like I’m a belly button, but I’m not. I’m a girl, see?” Tugging on her hair that was in pigtails, she blinked her long, big eyelashes at me. “I don’t look like a belly button, right?”
“No.” Was the only word I could say when she sat that close to me.
She nodded, bringing a piece of chicken up to her mouth. Not paying any attention to what she was doing to me.
“I like your name, Aiden Pierce. It’s pretty.”
“Pretty?”
“Yeah, I like pretty names. Not like mine.”
Before I gave it any thought, I blurted, “Your name is beautiful just like you are.”
Her eyes flew to mine, and another huge smile took over her face. “No one has ever called me beautiful, Aiden Pierce!”
I smiled with her.
“Now we’re going to have to get married.”
“What?” I stopped smiling, jerking back. “We do?”
“Mmm hmm…” She chewed on her food, swallowing it down. “That’s what happens when you call a girl beautiful, you have to get married after. I don’t make the rules, I just follow them. Before my momma passed away, she always said to marry a man who calls me beautiful, and I’ll be happy every day of my life.”
Maybe her momma sent her to me too?
“Will you make me happy?”
“Uh… I can try.”
“Try really hard, okay?”
“Okay.”
Momma would want that, right?
Yeah, she would.
“I like the way Bailey Pierce sounds. What do you think?”
“I like the way Bailey Pierce sounds too, but aren’t we too young to get married?”
“No silly! I meant when we’re older.”
“Oh.” I thought about it for a second. “Like how much older?”
Now it was her turn to think about it for a second. “Like when we’re eighteen. That’s old enough.”
“Okay.”
“Aiden…” She giggled, twirling her hair in a big knot around her finger. “You have to ask me first.”
“Oh, I do?” I scratched my head. “When?”
“When we’re eighteen.”
“Okay.” I nodded, meaning it. “I’ll ask you when we’re eighteen.”
“Okay.” She nodded back. “I’ll try to act surprised too. Ask me in a good way, alright? So I cry.”
She was confusing, but in the best way possible. I’d say anything she wanted just to keep her by my side, so I’d always feel this way.
Safe.
I knew right then and there my momma had something to do with this. I didn’t know how, but she kept her promise to me. This had to be the girl, I felt it in my bones.
“Why would I want to make you cry?”
“Because they’re happy tears and crying with happy tears is like super romantic.”
“Oh… Okay then. I’ll ask you in a way that will make you cry happy tears.”
“Okay good, but don’t make me cry in any other way than happy tears. Ever. You promise?”
“I promise.”
She leaned her head on my shoulder, whispering, “I trust you.”

***4.5 Stars***
M. Robinson is taking us back to her contemporary roots with the first novel in the Pierced Hearts Duet, Choosing Us! Oh my lord, I missed these angsty contemporary romances.
About Choosing Us: *because this is the first part in a duet, I’ve decided to cut the about the book section short. Nobody likes to be spoiled and I feel like anything I say about this book will leave it open to small spoilers.*
Choosing Us is told in dual point of views. Camila (the present) and Aiden (the past).
Honestly, I loved the way the point of views were told. We got a glimpse of Aiden’s past, filled with sadness, longing to be wanted, and a love so young and so pure. But then we also get the present tense told in Camila’s point of view, her point of view is filled with mystery and suspense. It was a roller coaster of emotions that, legit, never ends!
We all remember and loved the glimpses of Doctor Aiden Pierce in Lost Boy. Now it’s time for his truths to be out in the open. And holy hell, his story is as heartbreaking as they come. Given the fact that this is a novel written by M. Robinson, I expected the angst, the heartbreak, and the speechlessness that typically comes with reading a book by this author. I was expecting all of that and so much more. What I wasn’t expecting was to be swept up in this world of suspense. I’m seriously over here scratching my head and wondering where the hell she is!  I never felt more lost after finishing a novel. and I don’t mean that in a bad way. I’m not going to lie, I fucking broke down with Aiden. I shed so many tears, I seriously need to replace my tissue box and pour myself a shot of whiskey to get over that cliffhanger.
I absolutely adored Camila! I loved her heart and how much she cared for others around her. She was gentle but also tough as nails when need be. She may be my favorite female character M. Robinson has written. Only time will tell!
I’ve made a note never to make assumptions when reading an M. Robinson book. Because no matter how i see this duet going, or what I predict is going to happen, I’m. always. wrong! and I absolutely hate being wrong! But let it be known, I have my theories for where this story is going. And I’m pretty sure my theories are going to come out on top! Let’s just call it intuition.
Just a heads up, I highly recommend you not read this book in the middle of a crowded room. You will cry, you will sniffle, you will be the topic of discussion throughout the whole damn night. Take my word for truth, it actually happened to me. I had to put my kindle back in my purse after the first few chapters.
Overall, Choosing Us is a great story filled with not only angsty moments, but also heartwarming moments. Aiden’s situation tore my heart to shreds.

Peace Love and Happy Reading,

The (1)
