M. Robinson is taking us back to her contemporary roots with the first novel in the Pierced Hearts Duet, Choosing Us! Oh my lord, I missed these angsty contemporary romances.

About Choosing Us: *because this is the first part in a duet, I’ve decided to cut the about the book section short. Nobody likes to be spoiled and I feel like anything I say about this book will leave it open to small spoilers.*

Choosing Us is told in dual point of views. Camila (the present) and Aiden (the past).
Honestly, I loved the way the point of views were told. We got a glimpse of Aiden’s past, filled with sadness, longing to be wanted, and a love so young and so pure. But then we also get the present tense told in Camila’s point of view, her point of view is filled with mystery and suspense. It was a roller coaster of emotions that, legit, never ends!

We all remember and loved the glimpses of Doctor Aiden Pierce in Lost Boy. Now it’s time for his truths to be out in the open. And holy hell, his story is as heartbreaking as they come. Given the fact that this is a novel written by M. Robinson, I expected the angst, the heartbreak, and the speechlessness that typically comes with reading a book by this author. I was expecting all of that and so much more. What I wasn’t expecting was to be swept up in this world of suspense. I’m seriously over here scratching my head and wondering where the hell she is!  I never felt more lost after finishing a novel. and I don’t mean that in a bad way. I’m not going to lie, I fucking broke down with Aiden. I shed so many tears, I seriously need to replace my tissue box and pour myself a shot of whiskey to get over that cliffhanger.

I absolutely adored Camila! I loved her heart and how much she cared for others around her. She was gentle but also tough as nails when need be. She may be my favorite female character M. Robinson has written. Only time will tell!

I’ve made a note never to make assumptions when reading an M. Robinson book. Because no matter how i see this duet going, or what I predict is going to happen, I’m. always. wrong! and I absolutely hate being wrong! But let it be known, I have my theories for where this story is going. And I’m pretty sure my theories are going to come out on top! Let’s just call it intuition.

Just a heads up, I highly recommend you not read this book in the middle of a crowded room. You will cry, you will sniffle, you will be the topic of discussion throughout the whole damn night. Take my word for truth, it actually happened to me. I had to put my kindle back in my purse after the first few chapters.

Overall, Choosing Us is a great story filled with not only angsty moments, but also heartwarming moments. Aiden’s situation tore my heart to shreds.
